Became a JD owner today

Well after much back and forth on new vs used, FEL vs no FEL I pulled the trigger on a 1997 JD 870 w/ no FEL but it does have the hydraulic kit installed. Tractor has 672 hrs.

I have located a shop here local that will install a Koyker 155 loader for $3,700 out the door.

The final deciding factor was to not strap on a monthly payment at this time and pay cash for used. I want to thank everyone on here for the help they provided.

I have it's baby brother.....JD770. Plenty strong enough for my needs and very dependable....even with 2600 hours on it.:thumbsup:

Looks like a tractor you will really enjoy. Congrats! One nice, but little mentioned, durability feature is planetary gears in the rear end. 870, 970, 1070, and all x55 series tractors had that. Today you have to go up to at least a 4120 to get that.

Sorry, the 770 does not have that. It uses a single spur gear. Advantage of planetary, as shown in maybar's link, is the load is spread across three gears. Makes it very durable and is used in all the larger tractors.
