I can't picture without standing in from of my 722 but isn't there a knob you pull out and re-position another spot and let the pin drop down into a new hole? What model do you have?

Is the pin that locks them in place seized?

I had the same problem as mine hadn't been turned in a couple years and froze in place . I had to keep squirting penetrating oil in any place I could and keep moving things a little bit at a time and it finally let go , takes some time though . Good Luck
