John Deere 500C backhoe
I have a JD 500C backhoe. There are some issues with the hoe hyd controls. It has good hyd power. The bucket will not open period. It swings good, moves stick in & out as it should. The boom at times when lowered will not raise, but by holding boom control in raise position and using other stick to put bucket in close position the boom will raise.

1st thing I'd suggest is checking stand-by pressure which I'm guessing should be at least 2250 psi. It's possible the control valve is by-passing pressure which isn't good on a closed-center system as it allows pump to run out(low) of oil.

Not familiar with your machine, but two easy things to check.

1st, do a visual. May require taking off a cover or two somewhere. But make sure the linkages from the control all the way to the valve arent broken. Make sure when you operate a control, that it is actually pushing/pulling on the spool in the valve itself.

2nd, do a pressure check like TXjim suggested. Make sure you are north of 2000psi or things may not move.

And obvuiosly make sure the hydraulic oil is topped off and not running low
