As far as glyphosate goes...
...What are the possibilities that a direct connection between the product and certain cancers known and possibly unknown will be found in further studies?

...IF a connection is found and the substance is banned and not allowed to be used anywhere near food crops...What are the implications of extreme long term effects of trace amounts already consumed by the public...

How long will it take for the compound to be eliminated from all US food sources...

Seems to me it would not take much for for a whole new rash of class action lawsuits...

If one company pulls it due to litigation rest assured the others will also due to pressure from their insurance carriers and or legal depts.

Rural king sells it in ibc totes. One of those should last me.

I don't agree with the way that Monsanto (now Bayer) has touted it as a cure-all for all of your weed woes. However, properly used it's one of the safer herbicides out there. This is going to cause more problems than it solved in the long run.
To your point if used correctly it is safe. I hope we do not go back to the time when folks sprayed diesel to control weeds (that was not good for rivers) or using paraquat without a license. I remember when RoundUp was first marketed; it was extremely expensive. I hope we do not see that with the new formula.

Good one.

I have to use 12oz per 8 gallons to kill my weeds. That equals $15 per 24 gallons. So, $45 equals 72 gallons.

MoKelly
If 2 1/2 gallons cost $45.
2 1/2 gallons =320 ounces
320 divided by 12 = 26.6 eight gallon treatments.
26.6 X 8 = 213 gallons
$45 divided by 213 = 21 cents a gallon
For plants requiring only 4 ounces of concentrate per gallon it would cost 7 cents a gallon.

Is my math wrong?

yes your math is wrong.

320 ounces of concentrate.
4 oz concentrate per gallon of "finished product".

320/4 = 80. So you can make 80 gal of finished product.

So each gallon of finished product costs 56 cents of concentrate.

12 ounces per 8 gallons is only 1.5 oz per gallon.

That would only slow my weeds down around here. I mix it stronger than that.

Mixing concentrates tends to bring out the Tim Taylor in most men...!

______________________________________________________________________________________________NO. My math is not wrong! My typing was wrong. The last line was supposed to say..........
For plants requiring only 4 ounces of concentrate per 8 gallons it would cost 7 cents a gallon.

Mo was talking about using 12 ounces to make 8 gallons but using 12 ounces to 8 gallons he could get 213 gallons out of a 2 1/2 gallon of concentrate costing 21 cents a gallon for the jug of concentrate.

Then I said if you cut the mixture to 1/3 of that to 4 ounces to make 8 gallons (very weak) it would only cost 7 cents a gallon.

And I have used glyphosate that weak to kill grass under the fence (not weeds) if I wait to a hot sunny week in the 90s when the grass is very thirsty and about to wilt and mix a couple ounces of Tide in it and spray the grass.
