Battery terminals

I've found the terminal gizmo with the short brush to be junk, no matter who sold it. The brush breaks off and is too small for long term use as the brush gets buggered up fast.
Buy a full sized SS, wood handled, hand brush from Lowes and after removing all connections brush the terminals aggressively in several directions, then use a scrap of abrasive inside the terminal connector holes, re-connect and grease liberally afterwards. I've used the terminal spray lacquer too but like grease just as well. Many great batteries are not AGM but I do like them for many uses such as motorcycles and off road utv.
Ensure that a batteries top is clean as when dirty that can bleed off voltage, cause holder corrosion, etc..

Ok.... I confess to being a tractor snob

I wash & wax my machines once or twice a year, the oil is never older than 50 hrs old and I change filters most regularly.
HOWEVER, I don't have an attitude about it, my Mother taught me that you catch more bees with honey than vinegar..

I also do a walkaround like 5030 every time I use the tractor or the atvs and I find things that need attention before they become an emergency or disaster.
You gotta give the guy some credit for being so thorough and like him or not, I will bet his machines are nice looking and running , I have worked on others peoples machines that the oil was like tar and nothing was ever greased.

Now if he could lose that attitude, all would be peachy and rosy.... (y)

The end for the battery post works great and lasts fairly well... The other end like you mentioned gets buggered up fairly quick..

That's why I keep a couple of these handy use as is or snip the little handle end off and stick'um in cordless drill motor..

Like you mentioned a good brush works best on the rest of the terminal..

you would not believe the amount of times i see this on generator batteries. the only way i can ever prevent this from happening is i always use NOCO coated felt washers below connections and spread NOCO NCP2 paste on connections. ever since i started to do this some 10 years ago, i NEVER get corrosion build up or rotted connections . they look brand new 5 years later.

i have seen 1 year old batteries other people install rot away unless some kind of neutralizer is applied at time of install
