Battery scam

I have had good results with Current Batteries. He rebuilds them with new higher amp hour cells. I can tell the difference in power, when using my reciprocating saw.

You can even send him your old battery to be upgraded. currentbatteries.com - Home

I have all my Milwaukee 18V batteries rebuilt at a local Battery store. They come back with new cells in my old cases, new life and a 1 year warranty. About 1/2 the cost of new.

Any battery store or a certain company? Will they all do it?

Check out the spelling for the word Lithium on the battery label.

Wow now that is a new one I haven't seen

And with the XC markings too!

Actually that one might be worth trying It does list 4000mh capacity

I think with Milwaukee now the only true 2402 available are NOS

I never bought direct like that but many people do. I bet returns don't happen much :D

Just go onto Alibaba and search for your battery part number. You will get dozens of hits for knock off battery packs. It's a huge business.

I have been scammed buying Duracell and Varta counterfeits. The Duracell's were packed full of paper, and would power my camera for about ten seconds. The vartas were truck batteries that should have weighed about 100 lbs. The first one I went to pick up almost went through the ceiling because it was only about thirty.

Some reading material, and it is probably true.

Replacement Tool Batteries: Third Party Savings |PTR

One question you might ask yourself, does the generic battery have the electronics to protect the battery and tool, and are they using some of the best cell manufacturers.

I don't know about the generic batteries, but I trust Milwaukee to be true and honest with their products.

Another question, can battery re-builders, rebuild a battery as good as the original or better.

Here is my question to a Ebay seller for the M12 2440 battery.

I asked, can you certify that your 4.0 amp battery can operate for 4 hrs with a 1 amp discharge rate.

His answer.

1A would discharge about 3.5 Hour

Because the Milwaukee original charger will not fully charge the battery in order to extend battery life. The milwaukee charger will charge to 4.1V then stop, so battery will not fully discharge for 4 hours.

Some answer. Any one understand what he said.

One of the re-builders posted this.

The 2440 are rebuilt at 4.0 Ah and the 2402 at 3.0 Ah.
Thanks,

J.J. maybe you can get some of your answers here. I've had 1 battery rebuilt locally it cost $85 but the battery charges faster and lasts twice as long between charges for approx. 2 yrs. now.

What kind of battery rebuild cost you $85.

Was it equal to or better than a new one?

A battery rebuild around here for an 18 v Dewalt is about $45

I haven't seen anyone that rebuilds M12, although there are sub c lithium batteries at 6000 ma, which should do a superb job .

In some batteries there is something like a mini computer that decides about the temperature, how much charge and at what level does the battery save itself and cuts off power.

For those that think that I only know hydraulics, I was a Navy electronics technician for about 12 years and an antisubmarine operator [ AW ] flying P2's and P-3's for another 10 years, and retired as a CPO.

I was also in Landscaping and Lawn Service for another 18 years driving Dixie Choppers, and only quit because of diabetic neuropathy.

I hope nobody's feet hurt like mine 24/7.
