I need a battery for my b6100. E.

someone put a car battery in it and while it works fine it doesn't quite fit the tray properly.

I've called around to several places and I'm getting very conflicting information.

Kubota dealer in Lakeland is telling me that they sell car batteries for tractors that they're not specific for tractor they're just normal car batteries.

I can buy a car battery a lot cheaper than I can buy a tractor battery but I thought tractor batteries had more amperage and lasted longer not being used?

Napa told me that a tractor battery was nothing more than a fancy word for a car battery?

A branded tractor battery will probably cost more. Cranking amps is where it's at. I have some equipment I run generic batteries in. When fitting a specific battery tray, I stick with dealer batteries.

It should be a size 51R.

Here is a cheaper short warranty one -

Here is a little more expensive longer warranty one -

Keep in mind, there really aren't that many battery manufacturers. Johnson Controls, Exide, and East Penn pretty much make any you are going to find. Whoever you like doing business with (Walmart, AutoZone, Interstate, Advance, Napa, Oreilly etc etc.) their brand of battery is going to be made by one of those three.

Correct cold cranking amps (CCA) is where it's at!....but then:
It needs to fit in vehicles battery compartment. This is where the battery size (code) comes into play. Battery size codes can be found online. Best CCA in correct size code is best! ....but then:
The terminal configuration also needs to be correct (Is positive/negative post on left, right, front, back, top, side, etc...? ) for vehicle's cables. Best CCA in correct size code...with correct terminal locations is best!!

I have always thought that tractor/equipment batteries were way over kill. Especially on a healthy engine in moderate climate. Now, an old worn out engine in the cold, will take every bit of that huge battery.

My friend never regretted putting a heavy battery out front on his B7100.

His strategy is to regularly install a new battery in his car and put the car battery in the Kubota.

That way in very cold weather the car always starts. The Kubota is very happy with a slightly old battery with far more CCA's than would be available from a proper battery fitting under the hood.

I've was told from a friend that worked for Exide... most batteries are prices based on the warranty, i.e. 2 yr, 4 yr, etc. !

Have purchased DieHard batteries from Sears for years... and like clock work every four years I need to replace the battery... in fact I purchased a new battery for my truck in Mar/2015, I started to have problems in Jan/2019 of this year and went back to Sears... no problem found ! I just had to replace it 5/2019, still fours years and I paid for a 2 years warranty, so I guess I saved.

I am expecting in 2023 to have to replace this again, yes I keep my vehicles for as long as they run and get me around... my truck is a 2003 and it likes the Die Hard Batteries.

Also, I am taking my OEM Mahindra Battery (Not a DieHard) to Sear tomorrow, it has started to give up the ghost and I need it to start WHEN I need it. We will see what they offer me for a replacement battery and see if they have a "Tractor" Battery !

I will post as soon as I remember that I said I would. (Granddaughter has me all day today, she graduates preschool this afternoon, we go for an Ice Cream Run and then to the Toy Store for her to select her present for graduating, no time for a battery right now) !

The problem is that the name on a battery is somewhat meaningless. Maybe several manufacturers make different sized batteries for the same name. Or make a run for a contract and never again. Who knows? It's a bit of a racket, this battery business.

Plus, who verifies that the specs on a battery are truthful? Maybe as bad a the HP rating on a shop vac!

I use nothing but Yuasa batteries in my security equipment. Some I have removed after a dozen years or more! 12 Volt, 7 amp/hour. Now, the batteries have the same size and rating, but seem to weigh much less and I might only get three years out of them. Something stinks! They obviously, can make a really good battery, but it seems to me, they try and make the cheapest one that will suffice these days. And sell one four times as often! But no one is complaing because it's almost the easiest money a security dealer can make.
