Battery or Starter ?

I got this new battery a month ago at a shool fundraiser auction for $ 40
It says MARINE/RV DEEP CYCLE on emblem

Deep cycle means of course that you can run it down multiple times, be recharged and it will thrive for many many of these cycles.. Starting batteries will not survive being run down very many times before they give up. But Marine batteries don't like those big loads for a few seconds either like spinning a starter for instance.. They will probably do better than a starting battery would in trolling motor service, but still they won't like it.
