Rather that buy 5-6 battery maintainers is it possible to tie my 2 John Deers my Generator, and my sports car etc. Together to maintain the batteries with one small charger? I realize if I have one bad battery it will drain the rest of them but mine are all fairly new. I'm thinking a 1.5 amp float charger. Is it feasible?

just take turns and charge each battery with the same unit .

I don't really know for sure, but I've been using one maintainer on my two RV batteries for three years now. I check them every 6-8 weeks and they're always topped off.

Some chargers are rated to maintain multiple batteries but I think 5 or 6 would be pushing it especially with a 1.5 amp maintainer. I would check to see if yours is. You could also get one of those multiple bank units but they are about expensive as buying individual chargers.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably just buy more trickle chargers.

If you are storing a battery for the winter, and the battery is fully charged disconnect the ground, you do not need a battery maintainer. Leave in the vehicle in the cold. It will actually last longer. A battery maintainer keeps the electrons in the battery excited/warm moving around decreasing the life of the battery. Actually fully charged stored in the freezer is the best place, so grandpa was right.

Now if you have to leave the ground connected and have to run say the clock in the radio different story. Then you need the maintainer.
