Battery light won't go out

My Sabre lawn tractor is showing a problem with battery light. With a new battery installed the battery light on dash remains on even though my volt meter reads 14+ volts for charging. I suspe ted that the voltage regulator may be bad but with 14 volts charging I doubt it? Any advice. Thanks
