Battery Life

I replaced the OEM battery in my '09 Tacoma a couple of weeks ago out of fear it would leave me stranded on a back road somewhere. It might have lasted longer, I guess.

Changed out the battery in my old John Deere a couple years ago. Just a Walmart Maxx group 27 but that thing lasted 13 years - longest I've ever had a battery last. Last year changed out both batteries in my 2007 Econoline E350 (came with two batteries from Ford) so those lasted 11 years.

All my rigs that are not used regularly have battery maintainer/desulfators attached. I've found they make a huge difference in battery longevity.

It's like they know when the warranty period is up ! LOL

Maybe it's where you live. I'm not being snarky, but my operating environment versus yours could be the factor.

I think it is a known fact that batteries generally have a shorter life in hot climates.

I have never had a battery last more than 5 yrs

Change mine every 5 years in our cars/trucks no matter what Equipment when they go bad about 8 years time frame.

I change my car batteries every 7 years needed or not due to the Murphy's law factor.

I have never been as lucky as you guys, mine last approximately 3, may 4 years.

I don't buy the best battery on the list, might be my problem but I wasn't complaining; but Sears was next to where I worked, dropped off the truck when I went to work and picked up at the end of the work day; worked for me !

I have the best results from the Sear DieHard, I buy the two year battery and get three or more years out of it, never more than four years, and there is always a trade in value no matter how long you have had the battery... maybe it is a comeback discount.

Did try an Optima Battery, had it in for three years, sold the truck, so how long it lasted is an unknown and no my worry !

Here in Arkansas it's hot and humid. Then can get down to 0°f in the winter. The factory AC/ Delco battery was replaced last month on my 09 sierra. 10 years was a really good run.

Average though at work is 3 years on equipment. 5 years on vehicles.

In the equipment, the battery life really depended on the series. 24 and 31 series batteries lasted up to 3 years.
4D batteries last about 1.5 years to 2 years.

My father's 2008 Kubota still has the original battery, and I didn't even think about it until reading this thread. It spends all of it's non running time in the unheated barn cellar, so doesn't see the fluctuations of hot and cold which other vehicles do. Long story, but there's been a 6 pack of Mich light in there for a while which hasn't frozen in the last two winters it's been there.

I replaced the battery on my Chrysler 300 last fall - 14 years, 4 months. I replaced the battery on my T-1520 last week - 12 years.

Yeah, it did leave for a bit thank goodness. Through the first week in October it was in the middle 90's still most days. Should have been here from early july through middle of September. It was miserable this summer.

I was here where it was probably just as bad.
last month, we had record temps for about 2 weeks.and no rain for about 3 weeks

My son lives in Jonesboro Ak. he didn't mention it being that hot there

I maintain communications equipment some of which is on mountaintops that are hard to get to in the winter. Last thing we need is to have to schlep a battery for the generator up there with 3' of snow on the ground, so we replace them every 3 years.
I'll just take the old ones and put them in my vehicles, never had one fail me.
