Nissan Announces Proprietary Solid-State Batteries: $75/kWh Pack

Having put more miles on Nissan's than any other brand I wish them the best but Nissan's future does not look bright from my personal experience. By March 2029 the EV market players more than likely will be well established. $75 per kWh will not cut it and today's LFP batteries are good for 25 years driving 150 miles daily.

I expect by the this time in 2025 the top 10 players will have been determined. If we keep having lockdowns more the OEMs are going to die on the vine because lack of ICE sales to Finance the shift to EV's only.

IT sounds like Norway plans to help fill the energy gap for decades to come as non fossil fuel energy options are found and implemented. Transportation is just one use of fossil fuels that makes modern life as we know it today possible.

^ very easily forgotten.... (by a sub-set of the masses.....)

Been watching the news from BC a lot lately. Typically highest gasoline $ in Canada, Green virtue signalling constantly is the typical posturing there (meanwhile, the provincially owned ferry that sank a few years back is still at the bottom of that Sound, full of fuel (Ok, less every day),,,, you get the picture).

Crises tends to sharpen the mind though.... big focus lately on getting the Trans Mountain pipeline back On out there, and..... wait for it.....

They are barging fuel in from...... California !

If that doesn't say "Desperate", I don't know what does.....

Highlights the truism You really don't know what you Have, till it's Gone.....

The Vancouver Area does not have the refinery capacity to meet it’s needs.

i think I'm going to go off grid, after being on grid with the solar net-metered stuff. If its off grid, I get to do it. To re-instate being On grid, I have to hire sanctioned, approved people to have my snow damaged system re-approved by the local utility. ... $$$$. If I can just do an EV car off grid entirely, I'm all in. Its a 4KW Solar System.
We have a self-installed 7.5KW solar panel system on the roof
of a detatched garage. The 20 375 watt panels face south and
are only shaded by east and west horizon trees (a good site).
It started producing power in November of 2019. This is a
grid-tied system and relatively trouble free with only one
issue that was covered by warranty.

A summary to date:
It produces over 9100 KWH per year that meets and exceeds
our usage. Connection fees, taxes and other charges means
that most months we get a bill, but the utility program
sends us a check every year that makes our electricity
free. About 25kwh per day production.
We live in central Minnesota in a 2600 square foot house,
electric ranges, dryers and gas heat.
We added a plug-in hybrid car this year and as most of
our driving is local, we use the 24 miles of battery
and little gas.

Solar, sized right and installed right can be an
effective solution.

What did the system cost? I think self installed is the only way to make it feasible.
