Anyone with experience on vertical steel siding pros and cons of fastener pattern choices of attached file?

I personally would probably do the second at the top and bottom and the first for the mid-panel sections.

I’ve never seen a #2 pattern. I assume it would be an engineer spec for more sheer or wind resistance.

The way I read that sheet, you use both. Pattern 1 for intermediate areas and pattern 2 for base, eave and sheet ends.

I have always used the 1st pattern except for the stitch fastener with no problem in KY. If it is a very, very windy location the stitch may be of use.

Yes, I see that point, but as pburchett said using pattern one would work and as to pattern three leads me to the question of going through each raised rib vs each side of rib?

And then on each it gives a fastener sequence that seems a bit odd...?

Thanks for the feedback!

Usually you screw on each side of rib at ends of metal. Is this for walls or roof? Walls I wouldn't worry about screwing the rib on the lap.

Yes only walls. Roof is Meridian 16” which was least expensive snap with clips standing seam roof.

Pattern 3 is for attaching trim. You have to go through the rib. It's the only place it makes contact with the trim.

I’ve always done it as shown in the top example, but I put screws on both sides of the rib where sheets overlap.
