Ford 8N several, Ford diesel
Hello, I'm new to the forum. Have several tractors, Ford, 8N's mostly and a newer diesel New Holland Ford.
Having trouble with the diesel quitting like it is running out of fuel but it has plenty. Friend says I have algae in the fuel.

Is there something I can do to solve the problem if it is algae. Tractors sit a lot and I use them for mowing now at various properties. I'ed appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Don

To TBN Don. You have come to the right place to get answers.

I had that problem last year. I got some Bio-Cide and put a little in each tankfull. No more problems.
Before my first treatment of my diesel fuel, I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the bowl.

It doesn't mater which brand of treatment you use as long as it treats algae.

Hi Don - welcome to TBN and the forum. There are many biocide/algaecide products that can be added to your stored diesel that will help with the algae problem. The names I hear most often: Power Service and Centramatic. Google either of these two products or google "algae in diesel" and there will be article on treatment.

I would like to give you first hand experience but, knock on wood, I've never had algae in my fuel. Other will likely be along and give more specific advice.

Suggestion - update your profile and let us know where you are located.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

As oosik suggests... we need to know where you are (generally) in the world in order to better assist you. For example; there's an Australian product (Fuel Doctors) that is ideal to help you. I've used it, highly recommend it and I didn't even have to change the fuel filter.

Enjoy the site.

Get a catch bucket, close the fuel valve, remover the discharge hose after the filter assembly, put the bucket under the hose and open the valve . See if you get a constant stream of fuel. You might have also clogged fuel filter.
