Anybody have any advise or opinions on a 1985 JD 327 twine tie baler for $5000. Im looking for a new baler and this one came on Craigs list.

If you can swing a be one I would o that route. Used square balers are a crap shoot.

I bought my MF124 two-twine baler right out of the field a few years ago. The seller used it to bale about 30 acres the previous day. We ran a few bales through it before closing the deal. I'd be careful about old square balers that haven't been used recently--they can be money pits to get running.

Good luck.

I just bought a new 328 for that reason... all I found was junk, or almost as much as new...

If the baler was stored out side, I wouldn't bother looking at it. If not cleaned 100% the hay and chaff left in it rots it out. The safest bet when buying a baler is to try it out before you buy it. There is so many parts on them that all have to work and function at the right time to make a bale.
