How long should these clutches last this mower has 368 hours it is a commercial grade mower only used by me for my home, I have had the mower since 2012 bought it new always keep it in the shop never rained on or left out side. Just seems like it should last longer than that anyone have any experience with these type clutches.

These clutches can get replaced for a variety of reasons. The best thing you can do is always have a good battery and charging system behind it, the deck running smooth etc. You should check out the Extreme after market clutches. Install the new clutch with some form of anti sieze compound, torque the bolt properly and burnish the clutch to break it in.

Thanks TomPlum For the Information. The clutch started acting different a year ago when pulling the button to engage the blades it would hesitate before starting, you mentioned a good battery, The battery has been in the mower since I bought it which is 5 years old and it is an Interstate Battery which for a smaller battery is good life, but I haven't had to charge it up or anything and it still starts the mower up strong, my question is it does not have a gauge or volt meter on the mower. So should I take the battery and have it tested before each mowing season or test with a volt meter while magnetic switch is engaged. Sorry for the Questions but just don't understand Good Battery and charging system when it starts really good without any slowness so I figured it was good. any suggestions for checking the charging system.

In reference to the supplying good voltage issue, if you are not noticing any other issues you should be fine. They like 12 volts to engage and will generally hold with a consistent 10 volts or so. In my world, I get the comment about a deck not running or staying engaged from time to time. You go to start the machine and the guy says, oh I have to jump it to get it running - not realizing that he is asking an electromagnet to lock the drive pulley to the engine shaft. When it comes time to replaced, get a battery with good power - like a 300 or so CCA rated one. Your Badboy may too have an adjustable clutch as well. Too much of an air gap will make them temperamental on engagement. If it is adjustable, you will see 3 evenly spaced nuts holding the clutch body retainer with springs that push the retainer back.

Thanks TomPlum That is a great Site you gave me about Magnetic Clutches Extreme Magnetic Clutches that lead me to many videos I learned a lot about Magnetic Clutches which I knew very little, in using a volt ohm meter I have no resistance or Ohms which I should have 1.0 to 1.8 Ohms and I have nothing so the coil or a lead going to the coil must be burned or melted open also I put 13.0 VDC directly to the wires going to the coil and it made no sound also there is a hint of a burned electrical smell that I have noticed right around the clutch area. But great site always find help here. I shall pursue on to the road repair if and when I get it repaired I will let you know the outcome.
