Bad Muffler ?????

I have 2001 3235 23 hp. The other day I started it up, and it was running smooth. Then there was a pop and it sounded like a belt hitting the heat sheild. I shut it off. No broken belt. SO I thought maybe the muffler. After removing muffler I saw no holes on the outside.I guess there could be something else wrong with it or the muffler is bad on the inside.Any help please, and Thanks

Sounds like you broke a PTO belt. There should be 2 belts that drive the PTO. That would be the only thing I can think of.

Well, Muffler is fine. one of the rocker arms had slid off the valve spring. The bolt was not tight. It is stripped. I bought this 3235 used last year. I know the service shop who did all the work on this in the past. We will have a long talk on Monday. They even had the valve cover off that side before because the valve cover had a broken bolt. It was just stuck in the hole with silicone caulk was there earlier today. They had remembered working on it in the past. The mechanic told me to look and see if it had bent push rod.Like I said before, I will talk to them on Monday......
