Jim now that you have a larger group reading your tales of the old west living. How about stepping back to your Father and Uncles working for/with Teddy Roosevelt in his travels in the area.
Then tales of the Mt. Lion hunting.
I had a Uncle and his family that lived in tents while prospecting around the Burro mountains and Tomb stone locating copper deposits for Philip Dodge Corp.
His son became Supt. of the Ajo copper pit and Smelter
Life was miserable before the Swamp Cooler was invented.
How is your health been a couple of years since the surgery's.

Hi Ken & all,
Guess summer is here, 110/112 every day.
Swamp boxes are a blessing. Growing up in Tombstone, don't think we even had fans.
Health is pretty good. Only thing that I take are Advil, now & then. Haven't been to a Doc since the fall.
I think that you meant the "Mule Mountains" that's where Bisbee is located. Lots of underground mining & a pit as well. AZ got on PD's back & they just shut everything down in the Bisbee area. As well as the smelter in Douglas.
Don't know or remember any stories about Teddy Roosevelt. Before dad & his brothers.
Will have a few hunting stories & a few pictures a little later on.
WJ ranch / homestead, was part of the Slaughter ranch. At times it was just dad & I, other times the family.
First little tale from there. Left the place about daylight leading a string of horses & mules to the Stacy ranch. About a 20 mile ride. Dad passed me about 3 or 4 miles down the road, Hounds & some camp gear in the old 41 Chevy. Think the family was there & they may have gone to Tombstone. Can't remember.
I had never been past Turkey creek on the road. That was about 5 miles. Just stayed on the main road & rode into the Stacy place a little before dark. Actually a nice easy & pleasant ride, got to see a lot of new things.
Upper & lower Blue River are separated by a large shelf or cliff that can not be ridden around.
More Later,
Jim
