How about a spite fence? Get all of the neccessary permits first. Build a 6'or 8' wooden privacy about 10ft in on your side of the property line. At one foot on your side of the property, put No Tresspassing signs mounted on steel posts sunk in concrete. Now he won't be able to see you directly from his property, BUT you can walk on his side of the fence whenever you want. If he is still gives you trouble, you now have your very own billboard to post whatever message you would like to your neighbor on his side of the fence. I bet that would burst a gasket. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, I know, I'm not helping, but it's fun to be a little evil. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Henro, Thank you for your reply.

In regards to Hakim's post; I have considered it very carefully and read it more than once. Maybe due to his position and affording me the platform to voice my concerns and opinions. His reference to me being not in control of the situation is absolutely true, I am not. The psychology that he implies just doesn't fit or may be mis-diagnosed as my problem (neighbor) is unwilling or unable to communicate.

As I have not seen him dialing the county inspectors number or overheard a conversation then I wouldn't swear to it in a court of law. With the latest information from the past month I am convinced that he is the one responsible for all the calls.

Henro, you seem like a smart man from either higher learning or school of hard knocks and at your (my) age comes a certain wisdom that younger people have yet to experience. This man is playing me like the mouse in the maze and the cheese being dangled just out of reach. Would you play this game? What if you were forced to play the game? If I read you correctly nobody can force you to do anything you don't want to Henro.

My neighbor, for some reason that is beyond me, is predisposed to consume my time, materials and finances and I am forced to play the game. At least for now.

I can only post my side of the story. If the neighbor posted his side than I believe we would have come to a compromise by the end of the first day.

Regards, Mark

This is totally and completely illegal but sometimes you do what ya gotta do. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you have power and phone on your property yet? Where do his telephone lines run? Usually there is a junction box at the street that contains all of the phone lines for a given number of houses/properties. The phone company usually runs drops with more wire pairs than really needed.. Find the junction box and a spare set of wires to your property, attach the spare pair to his phone line. Go to Radio Shack, get a cassette recorder and a device that will turn the recorder on when someone is on the phone. (not sure RS still sells this but they use to). Hook everything up and you will have a recording of all his phone conversations. You may find out more than you want to know and you won't be able to use any of it outside your own info but you will know what he is really doing/thinking.

Bob, some of the local high school kids did that to the box up the road from where I live, only instead of hooking up a recorder, they hooked up a phone and made long distance calls racking up phone bills for folks up and down our road. We were one of the few houses they missed, but apparently they just randomly connected and then made their calls. Seems like the phone companies would secure those boxes better.

BigDave,

I have been concentrating all my efforts on the previous structures and prepping the new home site. A fence or barrier may be on the back burner but will require another permit, site certificate and as built certificate from an engineer because there is a trench to drain the rear of my property to the front culvert.

On the neighbors property he has sunk posts and 3 strands of barb wire about 8 months ago. I have no idea if he pulled the permits, as I have been working and living and let live. I will mention this to the county inspector on the upcoming visit.

Escalating friction between us in not my intention, but it may come down to that.

Mark

I think Mark has received more than enough suggestions, some good, some bad, some unwise, and some illegal (civil and criminal). /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
