Backhoe Backhoe

For a while now, I’ve been thinking about getting a backhoe. I don’t have time to build one from a kit and I need one now more that ever. The PT hoes seem to be reasonable priced. So…does anyone know if the PT hoes, for the 2430 for example, will fit a standard universal skid steer quick attach. (Not to digress too much, but I don’t understand why PT doesn’t make skid steer attachments as a side business).

If not, which I suspect is the case, then maybe I could invest a little time and add wheels, stabilizer arms, and a small engine and pump. I think I could built a unit that’s very close to the backhoe in the attached picture, for a fraction of the cost of a new Dig It or similar machine. Also, this type of unit should be very resalable.

You might look at a series of posts a year ago by Edward DiMaria ( see post #316560 on 9/14/03) on how he rigged up a PT Backhoe to mount on the front lift arms of a PT 425. There were a series of posts with several pictures and good descriptions as well.

Seems like it worked pretty well and should work with other PT tractor and Backhoe models so long as size and weight were taken into consideration. Might be just the ticket.
