Backhoe tooth replacement

Neighbor was over to help with a tree removal with his JD4400. He lost a tooth and we have another. What is the procedure for peening the new one on? we've used several approaches and they don't seem to be working. Please, what's the trick? Any help will be appreciated.

I'm sure there are lots of variations of teeth and holders. Mine have the concave depressions in each side of the tooth holder. I heat the spot (red hot) to peen and then use a punch and big hammer to push the sides of the tooth into the depression. I still lost one digging a stump out so I added a spot weld to each side. It should be easy enough to grind the weld off if I need to change one.

Heat would help to beat it in to hold. The other way uses roll pins to hold them on.

first I had to clean up with a grinder then I welded the new one on.

You can always pop the bucket off and stop by your local welder for $25.

I had problems with a loader that had teeth that had to be heated & dimpled into a hole in the shank. I couldn't seem to get it right. I cut 2 pieces of rod the same diameter as the hole in the shank into a length that was snug to slide the tooth over & plug welded in the hole in the tooth. Never lost a tooth that was done that way. Teeth removal is a tricky and this is why it is important to get the expert services only. When I had to get the teeth removed, I just panicked but my cousin told me about her dentist Redondo Beach who is extremely experienced. Trust me, the dentist was very good and I didn’t have any issues during the procedure.
