Backhoe Backhoe Thumb

I got my thumb mounted up tonight. Works great, I find it very handy for moving around all the rocks I've got and for holding trees when cutting firewood.

Found this one on ebay, I purchased the 16 inch, a tad short but works great. Built heavy duty and came complete with pins. I don't know how you beat this for $237 delivered to my house.

Cool beans Joel! I use my thumb for cutting up firewood too. Mighty handy, eand even moreso when working with someone else. I like the angle to it - it would appear to have an advantage over the Woods' shape (curved at the tip) because it looks like it would center the snatched object across the bucket. The Woods thumb is end-biased.

You should look into fabricating a pinned adjustment slide to increase the positions of the thumb if you find you need more. Another square tube and a drill press...and presto fabbo! That's what the Woods thumb has, although it was considerably more expensive (for two pipes with holes in them). I use all the positions on mine.

Thanks Deputy for the great idea.

I used my thumb on my old machine all the time, it was on the machine more often than not.
