Our tenants moved out of our rental cottage last week...and ran right over the fifty year old leach field! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Thought for sure we were going to have to hire the repairs out, but Clementine and her trusty backhoe handled the job with nary a problem! Wow, if I'd known it was that easy I would have done it years ago! Guess all that practice picking up dog doo with the BH came in handy afterall!

Funny thing is, for the past few days EVERYTHING has smelled like the septic tank...even when I'm fifty miles away!

So YOU'RE the one that affected my golf game on Sunday, huh? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I played at a local resort (Lake Lawn Lodge in Delevan, WI. for all of you midwesterners) on Sunday. The course borders a lake. We came around a bend to go to the next lake side tee box, and we almost fainted from the stench! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Man was that bad. I've smelled some pretty ripe lakes in my time, but I can't EVER remember anything smelling so foul. And there was this BRIGHT BLUE stuff floating on the surface that no one knew what it was.

So Pete, please make sure that those repairs you made will last a good long time! I don't want expereinece that stink again! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I pretty much grew up at Lake Lawn Lodge!!! Every summer my family would spend several weeks a year up there. And Alpine Valley. And The Abbey. And the Playboy Club (which has changed names a couple times since then). And Interlaken. Summer and winter. Delevan, L.G. & East Troy all were really nice back then. Seems a little more run down and touristy now, but still a nice place to take the family.

A couple years ago I took my family up there and met up with some friends who also used to vacation up there. There were 4 families and we always vacationed up there together. So now the second generation has had a few long weekends up there together. It was nice to see our kids run down those long glass hallways at Lake Lawn Lodge . . . the same ones I ran down 30+ years ago!!!

And you are right about the ripe lake smell on the wrong day. But if Pete's septic is seeping in there from Vermont then I have to wonder what it is that he is flushing!!!

Bob & Garry,

Either of you ever heard of Boner Lake? Somebody in my family had a cottage there when I was really little. I remember going there a couple times in the mid 70's.

Boner Lake. . . Nope. But then there are lots of little lakes up there that don't have resorts on them. I only visited the places with resorts because we didn't have a cabin anywhere.

Maybe you could go to Bob's and take care of that little "problem" of his? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No, I've never heard of that lake. Is it around the Delevan, Lake Geneva area? I'd be willing to bet my FIL knows where it's at.

As kids, we spent a lot of time at Lake Ripley up by Cambridge. My Grandmother absolutely loved to go fishing, and that was her favorite lake. So when I was in college, I decided to take her fishing. We went up there and got out on the lake, and within 15 minutes, she wanted to leave. There were so many speed boats and water skiers that it was almost frenetic. She said it just wasn't the same, and she didn't want to spoil her memories. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
