I have a subframe mounted BH on my Kubota B7100. The BH runs off a PTO pump. My problem is when it want the main boom to go down, it drops all the way down and I have to hold the lever and wait till the fluid catches up (for lack of better words) so it will have down pressure. Is this normal or can I fix it. I have run lots of heavy equipment and have never had this happen before.

Do you have a hyd fluid filter on your BH??/ You may want to change it...sometimes, if your resevoir is small, the backflow thru your filter to the res. may be slowed if the filter is somewhat clogged...just a thought. I don't have any of those issues with my Bradco 511 using a PTO pump..BobG in VA

I have the same problem with my Landpride BH, it is hard to drop the boom slowly and when it gets to the ground it takes several seconds for the fluid to catch up. What I am planning to do but don't have the right fittings for yet is to put an adjustable flow restrictor in the outlet side of the cylinder. I plan to adjust the flow down to the point where the boom will be powered down so pressure is there when the bucket gets to the ground. By putting the restrictor in the outlet side when lowering the restrictor will not cause cavitation. The restrictor I have is restricted one way and open flow the other so it will not affect the boom raise.
I bought the wrong fittings when I bought the restrictor and haven't been back to get the right ones yet or I could tell you how well it works. Meanwhile I am still convinced that it will solve the problem.

My Backhoe does the same thing.

I thought it might have air in it, or the cylinder might need new seals, but I guess not.

If you do figure out what the problem is, be sure to let us know.

Cheers

Mine doesn't have a filter, although I want to install one soon. I just picked up the things I need to convert the tractor to power steering, need to get that done first.

Brandoro

That sounds like a good idea, I'm anxious to see how well it works.

Is this after market power steering or was it an option on your tractor?

I am adding a FEL to my Kubota and it dosen't have power steering, but it would be nice to add it. Are there kits?

Cheers

This is something I plan on setting up using a steering valve and cylinder from an old combine. I haven't started it yet, but I plan on taking pics and posting a thread about how I do it.
