backhoe modification

Greetings,

I own a 32 horse John deere 4310.

The scrap yard has a 6.5 foot backhoe off a little cub cadette that has been in a fire. It is rebuildable.

How difficult would it be to modify the digging depth of this backhoe to 7.5 feet?

Is it just a matter of extending the stabalizer arms and booms and then remounting hydraulic brackets??

Is this worth the effort?

no one can determine the worth of the effort but you,

most likely you would only have to extend the dipper arm if all your wanting is 12 more inches, you may just make a extendable dipper for the last few inches,

If I was given the choice with the same info you have given, and needed or wanted the backhoe, I would do it, some depends on the cost of the rebuildable back hoe,

building one from scratch is not as easy as one would want, I have done that, and for the cost and the work If I could buy a good used unit and tweak it to my desires is the way I would go again,

remake the dipper with a tube with a slide over tube, with all the lower mountings on it, and two pins/bolts, to move and to extend it to a deeper dig, or more reach, by extending it you will lose some digging power,

the digging depth also depends on how you mount the hoe to your machine !!
if you can mount it a little lower then you will get some extra depth , also you can take the bucket and extend it , as in making it longer !! :thumbsup:

Thank you! Wouldn't you know it...went back to deal on it and someone snapped it up. Guess I should have acted quicker!

If you were actually going to try to extend it to 7.5ft -- you are probably lucky that it was snapped up.
