I just put a new boomer backhoe on my new 8N. When driving downhill on my street it will sometimes feel as if the backhoe has moved and kicked the tractor in the butt. It happened like every ten seconds. It can't always be reproduced but it has happened before. It doesn't seem like anything could be loose in the backhoe frame but it is quite a jolt. Has this happened to anyone else?

Do you keep the unit in four wheel drive? If you are keeping in four wheel drive and driving on paved roads and going down hill it will not be long before you will be able to see what your problem is. It sounds like drive train torque build up and release.

Is the backhoe pinned in the transport position? When mine isn't pinned it will swing a bit if I hit a bump or something. Yours might be extending slightly, then coming back toward the tractor causing the "kick". Even when they're pinned, they can (or at least mine can) move around a bit when the tractor is in motion.

My disc mower conditioner when swung to the rear for transport will jerk the tractor with the little 1" movements to take up slack. It will toss the tractor.

I haven't seen a photo of an 8N Boomer with a backhoe attached. Please post a few pics.

I thought I was in 2 wheel drive but when I got on it today I saw it was in 4 wheel drive. It's very easy to shift it accidentally. I put it in 2 wheel drive and went down the hill no problem. Ah Ha! I thought. Second trip it happened twice but in about ten more trips it didn't happen at all. So I think it was a final pressure adjustment. I've put some duct tape on the button to help eliminate accidents. I think the first reply was correct, we'll find out over the weekend.
