Anyone know of a resource calling out popular BH bucket dimensions? Primarily I'm interested in pin and ear dimensions. I need to dig an LPG trench and the stock 24" wide bucket on my L48 is overkill, particularly as I'll need to buy backfill material and would like to keep that minimal. The bucket mounting pin is 1.5"D and cylinder linkage pin 1.25". 4.5" of clearance is required between the ears for both locations. I can deal with wider and shim the gap if need be. Clearing the bucket cylinder linkage during use will require at least a 10" wide bucket which is about what I'm after.

I've see some aftermarket buckets about the right size and were cheap enough. But the ear clearance is too narrow. I could build an adapter or weld on my own ears but before considering that route I'd like to assure I'm not overlooking a more straightforward option. Thanks!

What about renting or hiring a trencher? They only dig 6” wide and grind up the dirt removed so good you probably won’t need more backfill.View attachment 693248

I would just use what you have and get some sand to put over and under the gas line.........

That’s usually what I do when I’m using a backhoe. I’ve got a 12” but when I’m working a new construction job where I care little about ground destruction I’ll use the 24”. It digs faster and there’s more room to work.

I considered doing so. But a cheap bucket for utility trenching can be had for ~$200 or less. And the area to be dug is rocky and I don't know what I may find in the way. Even if more expensive I can make a case for adding to the tool box with a one time investment.

BTW couldn't see the attachement for whatever reason.

I highly doubt you’re going to find a bucket for a L48 that’ll hold up past the first time for $200. I’m not sure what the problem with attachments are. They haven’t worked properly from my phone in a while. This attempt seems to be working.

I believe the BT1100 BH on at least my vintage of L48TLB was OEM'ed by Kubota from a domestic manufacturer whose name escapes me. Another possibility is finding a used Kubota bucket but I have no idea whether the BT1100 has a bucket known to be interchangeable with anything else manufactured by Kubota or competitor.

Yes I'm suspicious as well at that price. But it is one option for limited use. I've seen Kubota buckets which fit the BT1100 but nothing at a compelling price thus far.

I’ve paid a grand for every bucket I have. I can’t imagine anything for $200 being much better than a deluxe shovel. The only thing I’m seeing even close to that price is a Titan 12” bucket and it looks like total junk.

I expect that's likely true. But still is a choice at one end of the spectrum assuming there is little to no work involved getting it functional on the L48. Thus far that doesn't appear to be the case. So it is likely either a choice of scrounging an old compatible bucket or building an adapter to accommodate cheap but readily available disposable buckets.
