I was wondering if anyone had connected a back up alarm to the 424? I need it for some of the work I am doing. I have an idea of how I can do this but I was wondering if anyone else had done this and how they did it.

I assume your tractor is hydrostatic? Finding an alarm and wiring it is not so hard I think, it's the activation, as I'm sure you understand, that's more complicated. From what I gather, a lot of big hydro machines use pressure switches in the hydraulic lines to sense flow to the reversing system, which then closes the switch and activates the alarm. I'd call my dealer and see if something exists that can be added to the tractor. If it exists, it's probably not cheap. If I had to do this myself for some particular temporary purpose, I'd probably rig some kind of mechanical (not hydraulic) pressure switch at the reverse pedal. Might take some tinkering. I'd want something I could cleanly pull off the tractor later. If some fixed points in the linkage could be identified that give a positive "reading", a cheapo reed switch might even work. Hopefully somebody out there has better ideas. Wish I had actual experience to help you with, instead of just "thinking out loud".

Thanks. This was my general thought also. I was going to crawl under the tractor today and look to see if I can rig up something at the pedal linkage. I haven't looked, but it doesn't have back up lights like a car or truck on it does it? My first new tractor, don't know all of its features. Owned an F18D gray market gear drive tractor for years.
