Back to watching black and white TV

If you like the old stuff and can stream, Pluto is a free App that has a lot of channels that play older content. It’s pretty much all I watch when I have the time. Seen most of it don’t have to think too much just be entertained.
And quite a bit of not-so-old stuff too. Only downside is that it's linear tv...you watch what's on at the time, you can't stream individual shows. Once upon a time if you tuned in mid-episode it would let you start from the beginning, not sure if you still can or not.
Roku channel has a lot of good stuff too, and only minimal commercials.
Mostly entertainment, but I do learn a few things watching those shows.
I like Ask This Old House, I've picked up some tips from that show. It's on Pluto.
The house-flipper type shows are pretty lame, though sometimes good for a laugh.

I've recently gotten hooked on You Tube old movies from the forties and early fifties. We haven't had cable or satellite for years now, just internet streaming. Works well enough for us. My problem with the movies is the audio. It's often very poor quality and my hearing is so bad now I pretty much have to rely on closed captions. On some stuff it works pretty well, but on some it's so far off base from the actual dialogue it's impossible to follow.

@Harry in Ky some earbuds can Bluetooth to your streaming device, and you can program the volume/tone/balance to help you out. Some even have modes to favor speech.
e.g. Wireless earbuds can actually help you hear conversations better

But first, you might want to check that your streaming device is in the right audio mode for your content. I've had to reset a few that were trying to do something odd like "concert hall music", or "7 ch Dolby surround" for a basic YouTube movie. The result was a pretty garbled sound.

All the best,

Peter

I purchased my father a set of bluetooth buds due to his hearing. Mom was about to scream because he had the volume up too high. He loves them. Says he can still listen even when he has to go to the bathroom.

Which brand/model does your father have and like?

All the best,

Peter

Not his father, but I have owned at least a dozen (more) sets of Bluetooth ear buds and headsets. They're so cheap now, there's no worry in replacing them when the puppy steals and chews one, or you lose one in the snow. My current pair is linked below, and at least as good as any other I've owned in recent years. I usually wear one around the house or yard, while the other is recharging, usually with an audiobook or podcast playing:

This model has microphones in both earbuds, so you can take and make calls with just one in your ear, no matter whether left or right. Some only have the microphone in the left, which can be a problem.

When I'm out mowing or processing firewood, I wear inner-ear monitors (IEM's), which are also available with Bluetooth transponders. These are what rock musicians wear on stage, to hear themselves and the band. Basically, they're ear buds with superior noise-blocking capability, and a bit more expensive than the usual throw-away ear buds for around the house.

I agree, PlutoTV is great for the old free stuff.

My wife watches the 'home improvement' stuff. I don't, not interested and public TV is really geared for an intel level below adolescents anyway. Between the immature programming and the constant barrage of inane ads, I find TV to be nauseating.
Except This Old House, which started everything and when I was running my contracting business, it was the show to watch to keep up with all the new construction materials and methods and tools.

Where are you finding Black and White TVs?

All I can find are color

(Actually, I may pick up the Twilight Zone series if I can find it.)
