My plow truck is getting a bit long the the tooth so I'm going to sell it in the spring. Does anyone with a b8200 have a snow blower on theres? Is 16hp at the PTO even enough for a 5ft wide blower? Would a front blade be a better choice? It does have a loader on it.

I had an older JD750 with 19hp at the PTO with Manual transmission and used a 5' snowblower with it for many years. It worked fine even with 20" snowfalls. Was it a challenge with a manual trans, yes but I could make it work. If your tractor has HST it will be easy to match ground speed with snow load. Once the first pass is made, simply take a smaller bite if HP limited. Running at rated PTO speed helps a lot.

Also prefer to have the blower exceed the tire width by a few inches, so the rear tires clear the snow path on bends.

Thanks for the info. The tractors rear tires are about 50in wide. Could I just not drop the blower all the way down and use less hp

I've done the same also. (Keep blower lifted)

I'd rather have a wider snowblower and deal with a few work arounds than a narrow one that doesn't adequately cover the tracks.

I have a 5 foot rear blower on my B8200 and it works just fine. Hydrostatic trans makes it easy to slow down or speed up for the snow conditions.
