Does $12,500. sound like a fair price for a b7800, it has 188 hours on it. That price includes a loader, pin on forks, a box blade, and a scraper blade, it is 4 wheel drive hydrastatic transmission. The tires are loaded and there is probably a few other small things that have been added to it. It has been stored in a shed since new and the hours on it haven't been hard use hours. It has a bend in the hood where they were hauling furniture with the pin on forks and a chair flipped back on the hood. The bend is not a crumpled bend, but instead just bowed in and the paint isn't even scratched on it. I believe that could be coerced back out by taking the hood off and putting it upside down on a quilt and putting weight on the back side of it where the bend is. The bend is not bad and he may have already fixed that, but if he hadn't showed it to me I wouldn't have noticed it. It is about a 2006 or so model but the low actual hours is more important than the model for someone that would keeping it a long time. The original owner of it keeps his equipment serviced well. Another thing about what would it cost to ship it about 500 miles? I have a car trailer but I would hate to tow it that far and I wonder if it would be too heavy for my trailer and a f150 truck.

That price would be plenty fair around here. Feel free to read up here on old threads about the B7800.... it is a great tractor. The hours on that one are nothing, it should be good for several thousand hours with regular maintenance.

Low hour used tractors are a tough sell as far as I am concerned. You can buy new,FEL,4 wd,hydro with a warranty for a few thousand more.I looked at a used NH with low hours and FEL and 4 WD for $13,500,I can buy a new Kubota(similar size) for $16,000.

Now-a-Days it is a buyers market. Does not seem out of line if you find someone that sees the value. I really like my B7800 and would not be afraid of yours.

Price sounds good , paid $ 13 k for mine w/ 196 hrs. , 7 yrs ago. Tractor & loader. Have 1400 plus hrs. now. If i had the $ I'd buy it for that, plus you get the forks, box blade & grader blade . Good luck with your decission.

Sounds like a fair price considering the extras. I haul mine with a Dodge Dakota so I'm sure your F150 will handle it.

it sounds like you have done your homework and have sufficient background information.
the price sounds reasonable, especially with the extra attachments. there are 35 Reviews for that specific tractor on this TBN site and they are largely very positive - spend some time reading through those reviews. that particular model is a 30 hp and was built between 2003 -2007 and the weight is noted at 1741 lbs - I think that it will be no trouble to tow with the Ford 150. There is an amazing amount of information on this website, that's why I'm so eager to buy my first tractor.

" ... but if he hadn't showed it to me I wouldn't have noticed it."
"The original owner of it keeps his equipment serviced well. Another thing about what would it cost to ship it about 500 miles?"

these two comments, lead me to ask if you have actually eyeballed the tractor on site ? and were you given a chance to start it up, test it out ?
is the seller, also the original owner?

unless you happened to be in the area and saw the tractor, why would you go a distance of 500 miles to check it out, unless you were certain ? (disclaimer - Kubota owners might have that passion for a roadtrip, what do I know? ...) I would say that the distance factor is a further negotiating point on the price, and personally, unless I had a dealer or friend shipping/ transporting it, I would go pick it up and make sure that you are both agreeing on the terms. 500 miles would be a disappointment if something was missed.

if it seems too good to be true, it probably is

just my thoughts and :2cents:

I hope that it works out, whatever you decide, ... exciting times

i own a b7800 and love the thing. mine has over 1000 hours on it with very little trouble along the way. it has been one of the better B series tractors over the years for kubota. as said before discontinued around 2007. the price sounds good if everything is as you say, i would buy it. i use mine commercially, landscaping/firewood and tow mine all over with gmc's 1500hd's and a 7000lb capacity ta trailer (18ft) and get along good with it, so i believe your f-150 would handle it fine. good luck with your decision.

I agree the price READS fair. However driving an F150 500 miles (1,000 miles roundtrip) will cost. Figure 20mpg, 1,000 miles = 40 gallons of gas at ~$4/gallon =~ $160, with oil and wear and tear. Add in about 20 hours of driving worth at least $10/hr, plus a few meals etc. and your getting to about $400 IF THE TRACTOR IS GOOD. Also be thinking of the 250 hour service.

I picked up the tractor, trailer, box blade in my sig for $11.5K in 2009 (all equipment was 2007) JUST after it had gotten the FULL 250 hour service at a reputable dealership. I think the price the guy paid was over $400 (per the receipt which he gave me from the dealership) the list was like a full page of stuff (with every little part detailed). I believe fluids were OVER $100.

An example for a 3130 I found at TBN:
Just for fun I calculated the cost of replacing all filters and fluids using prices from Messicks's website. All dealers seem to sell of list, so it does not matter where they are coming from.

The total comes to $491.06 without tax for parts alone. (No labor!)

There would be a small amount of fluid left given the package sizes used in the calculation.

Fuel Filter $11.13
Air Inner $14.10
Air Outer $18.49
Oil Filter $10.49
HST Filter $73.95
Hyd Filter $40.78
Gear Lube $36.33 (7 qts at $5.19, holds 6.9 qts)
Oil $36.24 (2 gal at $18.19/gal, holds 7.0 qts)
UDT2 $249.55 (5 x 2.5gal at $49.91, holds 11.1 gallons)

I am not saying all fluids and filters need to be replaced. Just wanted to show the cost if doing so.

And one more thing, I know on my B7610 hours on the meter reflect "hours relative to PTO speed" http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/150221-b7610-hour-meter-tach-rpm.html

And I think the B7800 is also.
My B7800 is RPM based (the tachometer/hour meter runs from the engine via a flexible speedometer-type cable). I suspect yours is too.
