I have a B7800 FEL,MMM 85 hours. The engine is stalling when the tractor is moving either forward or backward. I can keep it from dying if I push the clutch in. It will idle at any RPM while sitting still and not die. It seems to stall quicker if I am going in reverse. I can travel forward a longer period before it stalls. Also, the fuel that is in the tank now is 4-6 weeks old and is on 3/4 tank. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

No expert on this but it sounds like the seat presence switch.Might be something to look at.

Where under the seat can I locate this switch? Could anyone describe this please?
I did locate a pushbutton switch right underneath the seat on the front right side. There are two blue wires going into this switch. What does this do? I can press the switch while the tractor is running and nothing happens.

Does engine stall when you engage the MMM?
If it does not stall. Then check if tractor is in M or L range. Are brakes set for park? Engine will stall if brakes are set in high range.

The switch you found is a safety kill switch that will stop the tractor if the operator falls off. This is to prevent injury to the driver. Keeps you from roto-tilling yourself. On the B7800 there are actually TWO switches under the seat. The second one allows you to be off the seat and keep the PTO running. This is neededd if you are using something like a 3pt. chipper where you need the PTO but also need to be off the tractor using the attachment.

If you're stalling while the PTO is engaged, you might have a bad switch. You will also want to check the brakes. I'm pretty sure it's never happed to anyone here on TBN, but we have heard of some tractor newbies that set the brakes and then forget to release them befrore trying to move off. In H gear, this will indeed stall the tractor. Like I said, that's the rumor, since I'm sure no one here has ever done that...

It will stall when PTO is engaged and when it is not engaged. Stalling occurs in Low, and Medium while moving forward or reverse. Thanks for the answers, keep em coming!

I still think it sounds like the switch for rider presence is messed up on the tractor under the seat...

It very well could be. Bad thing is I am not sure where I can find this switch? A description and location would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 little ones and they "Play" on the tractor a lot. They could have done something to this switch. Thanks much!

Could you be a little more specific about the stall. Before you press the hst pedal, can you hold a constant rpm, say 1800-2000 rpm. When you do stall is there a lot (or some) sputtering and lurching, or does the engine just shut down? You said it stalls in low and med., what about high? Any problems with any electrical components? Lights, turn signals, etc.?

As far as the location of the switch, check your manual. There are instructions on using the Pto while off the tractor and a diagram of the switch ( if I remember my manual correctly).
