It seems that my 45-hour B7800 hates to mow. After about 45 mins or so, the temperature has risen too much to continue the MMM at 2500 rpm.

Is this normal? All the fluid levels are checked, screen clean, etc...

Thanks,

Blee

Check the screen in front of the radiator. Keep it clean and check it anytime the temperature gauge starts to rise.

What JerryG said.

There are numerous frame fine suck-in air flow points in the front of the tractor engine compartment and slightly to the bottom left and right.

I use a paint brush to clean these out. They are really fine holes.

If the screen is clean when this happens, I would contact your dealer. Sounds to me like a defective water pump or radiator fan or something.

Seems strange w/ only that many hours on it. I know the other day my L3710 was nearly red-lining after only about 30-40 mins of brushhogging. I thought something was seriously wrong (I've only owned it a few weeks), until I checked the radiator screen. I couldn't believe my eyes - cause I had checked the screen right after I bought it... but, the thing was CAKED on with grass and pasture 'stuff'. I've also read other posts about this and many people strongly suggest flushing out the radiator fins from behind (spraying out). Like I said, however, it seems strange that at that few hours you'd have trouble, but, if all you've been doing is mowing and if it's been a few days since you've checked the screen, its sure worth another peek - and radiator cleaning. Short of that... I'd agree with TWSTANLEY and get on the horn to your dealer.

Good luck!!

My wife and I brush hogged 30+ acres last weekend using her folks NH tc30 and our Kubota L2350 ... We spent about 15 hours on the tractors, it was a lot of seat time. Ugh.

Anyhow, both tractors needed the screens cleaned regularly, usually every couple hours. And this was on damp fields, sometimes mowing in light rain. If it had been dry with lots of stuff being kicked up while mowing, we would have been cleaning them every hour at most I am sure. I wish the L2350 had a temp gauge, I just had to gauge how much heat I felt coming off the engine and watch for coolant dripping out of the overflow tube onto the left front axle ( it only got that hot once, just a few drops came out before I noticed and stopped and cleaned the screen ).

So your B7800 should be able to mow indefinitley with a clean screen....

FYI,
I have a 7800 with about 200 hours on it. Last week i was mowing a thick soccer field and the tractor got hot several time. I had to stop and let it cool off.
Normally, I've had no problems just cutting regular grass at home. The soccer field really needed a bush hog due to grass thickness.

Even if the grass is thick, the tractor should not overheat. First thing is to keep that screen in front of the radiator clean, as has been said, and the radiator fins themselves. If that's not the problem, then I'd check fan belt tension to make sure it isn't slipping. And of course, I'd check the coolant level when the engine is cold and not running. If those things don't solve the problem, then I'd be thinking about defects with water pump or thermostat.

Hmm,

I cut dusty dry thick grasses just about a week ago. After about two hours I noticed the temperature gauge creeping up.
My screens were completely full of seeds, chaff and dust. My lungs were too....

But the 'bota did NOT bubble over. Just below the red-line is where I came to a stop. Tried to get it close to the house, so I did not have to walk far for me to cool off.

I'll post some pics this w/e to give everyone a better perspective of the work load this machine was/is under.

My B7800 has two screens. There is a fine screen in front of the radiator and another in front of the engine. I was mowing a field lat weekend and my 7800 got hot also. I cleaned the first one and when it contined to heatup I found the second. It was packed cleaned and had no more problems. You can't really see the screen in front of the engine all you can see is two clips on top.
