As I said in yesterdays post, I was going to visit my local dealer during his open house to see if his interest in bargaining would be any better than my previous visits.

I told him I had been shopping and that his earlier prices were higher than a dealer 90 mies west of here. we got to talking and I told him I liked the idea of keeping the business local and wanted him to make a sale he could live with. He came back with a price of $14,446 for a B7800 with the 402 loader and filled R4's delivered to my door. That was within $400 of the other dealers price. Before we were done, he agreed to do the 50 hour service for free and with pickup and delivery included.

So, he got the business and I got to keep my money locally with what I hope is a good deal?

Time to pick out some implements before they deliver on Tuesday. Need a 60" tiller, 60" box blade and a landscape rake. any suggestions?

The two tillers he had were Rotomec and Landpride. The Rotomec did not look very robust and of suspect quality, the Landpride was nice, but about $1800. I've got 3 acres of very hilly lawn to re-landscape and was wondering if there are any better alternatives to these two brands.

Cheers,

Dan

Congrats on the purchase..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Don't count the Rotomec tiller out completely, I think it's the same as a Befco. Very reliable tiller.

Congratulations, So I see you contacted my local Kubota Dealer, Sounds like he gave you a fair price. I did not trade up to the 2710. I have a Woods 52 inch tiller you might be interested in. Its a bit much for the bx.

Ivan,

I have the 48" KK tiller and it beats the heck out of the dirt. It is plenty heavy and I have some pretty nasty rocky clay. I just got a 60" landscape rake, again KK, and besides it not really fitting on my bottom links......see photos in attachments, I am thrilled with it. I will be adding the Pats quick change things to get the length I need.

Hope this helps

Paco,

Thanks for the info on your dealer. I talked to him and he gave me some straight no nonsense pricing on the phone. He also convinced me that the 7800 was more to my needs.

As it turned out, his pricing was just the leverage I needed to get my local dealer off the fence.

I'm very interested in your tiller. I sent you a private message - look forward to hearing from you.

YOu did good, near as I can tell. I paid a bit more for my B7800 and 402FEL but tractor prices seem to be generally higher here in New England. Mine was delivered a week ago Saturday.

...you're gonna love it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where in Ma. did you get your Kubota? I've been wondering also about prices here in this high cost state. I've been thinking of buying out of state to save on the sales tax if I buy a new one. I don't need their service other than warranty work if any.

JimR: I shopped dealers in MA, NH and VT. Didn't buy in MA because all of the dealers I talked to here in Eastern MA were about $2k higher than Bob Giddings in Pittsford, VT, from whom I eventually bought. Bob delivered to Randolph, MA w/out charge and spent about 4 hours w/me going through the setup and change of MMM, 3ph and BH configurations. He has been a pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend him.

Ivan,

You did good. I bought the exact same rig last summer for $14,800 but that included a box scraper. I did not get any free service. One word of caution. Many dealers do not change the hydraulic fluid during the 50 hour service. They say that it's not necessary to do it before 200 hours. I tend to believe that if Kubota say change then that's what I'm gonna do.

Maddog,

You are so right. I called two dealers today in two different states. Both are owned by the same company. The Ma. dealer was $1340.00 higher than the other for the same machine. Nuts. I will check out the guy in Vermont. Thanks.
