Kubota b7800
Hello, I have a b7800 kubota and was just wondering what type of oil is ok for the front end? Can I put in the same tractor fluid I put in the hydrostatic drive? Please give me the skinny because I have talked to ten different people and have got 50 different answers! Lol  thank Nic

I use 90W gear oil in my B7800. Has been working since 2006. HST fluid will not work.

My B2320 manual, as well as my BX manual, both stated either UDT or gear lube. Your choice.
I like gear lube in an axle. Our local farm supply store sells 75w-90 full synthetic for the same price as dino 80w-90. It has quicker flow in the dead of winter. I like it.

Simply the fundamentals of lubrication... universal tractor fluid will work... but not as well as gear oil.

While 80w90 and UTF are roughly the same viscosity base oil wise... 80w90 (or 75w90) has tackifier, friction modifiers, etc, making it a gear oil. Also it's better in heat.

If you were in -20 or -40 degrees all the time? UTF... If you're where it can be 70-90 degrees? Traditional gear oil.

K thank guys, that's what I need to no. All flip a coin and go from there. I just didn't want to put something in there that might eat up the seals or something. Lol thank again. Nic

agree that both the gear oil and sudt oil will both work. i have run the sudt/sudt2 oil in my b7800 front axel since i got it in 2007. it now has 880 hours on it and no trouble in the front end. it's a great tractor. the operators manuel i have for the b7800 states that either use kubota udt, kubota sudt, or 80 90 gear oil. dealer told me when i bought it, the sudt oil up front will be fine and if i wanted to switch, do it after it is run a while and can use the thicker 80 90 gear oil. maybe i switch to the thicker 80 90 soon, but so far (880 hours) no trouble with the sudt oil.
