Hello All,

I know this is a few days late, but I thought I would throw my .02 in.

I got a 7610HST with a 5' HawkLine Rotary Cutter, an FEL-302, R-4 tires on the rear, turf tires in the front, a HOWSE post hole digger (PHDS15 series) for 14889 - delivered with fluid in the rear tires. I had originally purchased the Taylor-Pittsburg 5' rotary; does anyone know how the Hawkline compares (honestly, I'm new to this - never owned much land before).

I did bush hog this weekend (they delivered it Friday) - and it will definitely mow down the field brush and small trees.

Need to get a snow blower or blade next... more money :)

Cheers

Wingnut32, If your looking for a blade for your 7610 look at the Curtis 5FB5T power angle blade. It hooks up onto your FEL in place of your bucket. It is 5ft. long, has a 24in. moldboard height, trip springs, skid shoes and you can get it either hydraulic angle or manual angle. The hydro one costs $1750 in Northern PA. Their web site is www.curtiscab.com. I will admit that I have not used it personally, but I bought one for this winter and I have seen it in action on an old JD 755 (20 hp) and it did a fantastic job on this guy's 500 ft driveway. The nice thing about a blade on the front compared to a back blade is that your not looking over your shoulder all the time and you can push the snow banks as high as your loader will reach. The snow blower for the front is going to cost around $3500 and a rear one is around $1300 at least that is what I was quoted. The only thing I do not like about a snow blower is in the springtime you have to go out and rake your driveway out of the lawn, other than that a snow blower is a really nice piece of equipment. Hope this 2 cents helps. John

Luvbug brings up a good point with the Curtis bolt-to-loader plow. I've heard good & not so good things about it. For one, on smaller, lighter tractors, I've heard that because the blade is placed out away from the tractor on the loader arms, the snow has a tendency to "push" the front of the tractor to the opposite side the blade is angled to. Where as a true front blade attachment, being closer to the front of the tractor does not have this type of effect. Does anyone have any experience to support or dispute this? I'm curious myself.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, the snowblower would be nice; but quite expensive. Need a landscape rake too - need to remove rocks, etc., from the yard :) All sorts of toys for the tractor... at least according to my wife /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Cheers!

wingnut32, If your also looking at a landscape rake, I would suggest that you get one with wheels on the back that way it will not dig in too far and tare up what you are trying to smooth out. Hint to make your yard look good you have to go in different patterns while raking, example in a diagonal "X" pattern in both directions, across left to right and vise versa, and front to back. But you have to keep switching directions. When you are done go outside at night and shine a bright light low across your yard to see if you missed any spots. If you did they will stick out like a sore thumb. It is great that your wife is letting you get all of the "toys" that you need, But be careful, if you get to many things you will not be able to get her off the tractor as I am having that problem now with mine. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
