Current Kubota 7610 - Previous B6200/2500 hrs.
I had one B6200 ((20 years, 2600 hrs) and presently a B7610 (7yrs, 390 hrs)), and I have never had any fuel issues. I always add Power Service supplement each time I get a fresh five gallon can of fuel. Today, without any load, the 7610 engine began to frequently drop from full rpm to about 900 rpm, sputtering and running rough a few seconds and then back up to full rpms. This continued to happen about every 30 to 60 seconds until I got it back to my garage. I changed the fuel filter, although it only had 50 hours on it. This did not correct the problem. I siphoned out most of the fuel in the tank and plan to refill from a different source. Anything else I should be checking on?

My first thought was the filter was plugged. Since that is not the case then the fuel is suspect. Have you bought fuel from that supplier before?

My old B8200 started doing this a few months ago. My fuel tank had shifted slightly and partially pinched the fuel line.

Also check to see if the mice didn't build a big nest in your air cleaner box over winter. This would choke off the engine. If that is clear, then there is a fuel issue, most of which has been addressed by the other posters. There isn't much worse than a tank of nasty fuel.

Thanks for the replies.

I bought 15 gallons (3 five gallon containers) in December, 2010 time frame. This was the last of the five gallon fills. This was a new source because I was attempting to stay away from the suppliers that had added the 10% Ethanol to their fuel.

Also, double-checked the air cleaner and it is also okay. I run clean it it regularly and utilize this tractor at least once per week year round.

Where in HE double toothpicks do they put ethanol in diesel? Or were you talking about gasoline?

I run an '09 VW TDI that would be ruined by that mix.

Sorry, I meant to say I did not want to use the biodiesel sold in most of this area. I'm buying the non-ethanol gasoline for my two-cycle equipment.

Today I drained the fuel tank completely. Blew the line from the fuel filter to the tank, put in fresh fuel from another supplier. It's running fine now, but I need to run through another few gallons without a repeat of the issue before I'm satisfied that the problem is corrected.
Thanks for all the replies.
