B7610 Block Heater

Working through the decision process on trading the ol' BX on a new B7610. One thing I have been considering is the need of a block heater. I live in south-western PA. Never had any real problems starting the BX on cold winter mornings, but the B7610 is a bigger engine. Any opinions?

Also, does anyone know if there is a threaded plug on the B7610 engine block for the block heater.

I'm in Northeast Ohio and have a B2910 - had no problems whatsoever starting it last year after it sat outside overnight with the low in the teens. Just hit the glow plugs for about 10 seconds - it chugged for a bit (minute or so) after it started till it warmed up a little. Run Power Service in my fuel.

Having said that I have picked up a block heater for it ... but haven't got around to installing it.

I have a b7500 and live in upstate NY. I have never had trouble starting it in the winter. Low temps around zero...a few cranks and she starts up. I do store it in a barn, but there is no heat in there.

I'm 99% sure the block heater screws into the block on a 7610. You're dealer will know. They're pretty inexpensive, I would guess you're dealer might throw it in on a trade-in deal.

Sorry, not sure, had mine installed prior to delivery. Necessary? Probably not, but it's cheap enough to make sense if your area regularly sees below zero or extended single digit temps. For the really cold mornings, I park in a unheated garage and plug into a wall timer. It does turn over a lot easier using the heater and synth oil. The real benefit IMO, is that the tractor warms to operating temps much quicker. I recommend the big alternator kit as well.

If it won't easily fit into the block install an inline heater on the bottom rad hoze. Six of one and half a dozen of another. They both work equally well.

I installed a block heater on my B7800 before the first winter (just because I think it is much easier on any engine to start it warm). The engine had a threaded (NPT) plug, but I needed a bushing to adapt to the smaller thread of the (aftermarket) heater. It works great.
