Kubota B7510
Hi all, I have been surfing the site for over a year now and have owned my B7510 for about a year. New to tractors, but I feel with all the information I have received from this site that I have been around tractors for years. My question, curious to know if I stand-up out of the seat when traveling in low gear (to get a better view of where the bucket is) should the tractor shutdown? Reason for my question, my Dad recently got a JD2305 and tells me that the minute he gets up out of the seat his tractor shutdowns. Should my B7510 do the same? Thanks for the help and thanks for the many hours of enjoyable reading. Seems that I can't go one day without checking in.

It is a safety feature so my guess is yes. I believe all modern tractors have a safety switch under the seat that kills the engine if the weight is removed. If you fall out of the seat the engine stops. It works that way on any newer tractor that I have used from lawn tractors up to compacts.

The 7510 will shut down but not instantally there is a small delay. They do it this way so that if you need to run the pto while out of the seat you can get up and flip the seat up before the tractor stops.

The switch is on the right side with the wire just between the right fender and the seat base. There have been problems with bad switches (like on my 7510) so I just jumped the wires together...

If I fall off the tractor.. A) the tractor should stop rather quickly with my foot off the pedals, or B) I was stupid and I should be run over...

I find that switch unecessary:rolleyes:. I'm sure there are those that will hammer me for it, but those who have don it themselves....

Actually,I believe the engine stays running if you get off the seat, but not moving. If you're not in the seat, stepping on the HST pedal kills the engine. So you can stand up,just don't try to move.

There is a three of four second or so delay for the reason mentioned above by NH-Rob. When you engage the PTO and stand up you have about that much time to fold up the seat. If you don't it will (should) shot down.

So. You go into a burning building too without all pieces of safety gear?
The tractor will just run you over and then you will have the rest of your life to think about how $30 switch could have saved your leg/arm/ribs/hospital bills. True tho. If you happen to croak under the wheels it will be your families problem not yours.
Good thinking.

Your kidding right? You do realize it would take a double failure /fault (or more like a chain of 4-5 problems ) to actually be run over...

1) seat belt would have to fail...

2) you need to fall off,

3) the spring on the hydro static pedal would also have to fail, Otherwise the pedal returns to neutral, thus stopping fwd /rvrs motion.

and more realistically

4) you would have to fall between the front and rear tires

5) at my tractors top speed, I still counld probably roll mostly if not complete out of the way, Afterall I can dodge enitre rooms erupting in a ball of fire all at once...

6) If I was a slow roller and it caught my leg, my survivability would be very good it not complete full recovery.

Yeah I'm pretty confident in by-passing my seat switch...:D

Let me quote your post here again:
" "I find that switch unecessary. I'm sure there are those that will hammer me for it,""

You expect some hammering and when you get it you seem offended and very comfident in the fact that you are bulletproof.
I'm pretty sure they didn't put that switch there just to annoy you. People were probably hurt and then the idea of that seat SAFETY switch was born. I'm sure you have heard that a 1000 times on your job. "I didn't think it could happen to me." The next thing the guy knows that you are standing over him in full firefighter regalia trying to ease his pain.

accident:
......a happening that is not expected, foreseen, or intended, an unpleasant and unintended happening, sometimes resulting from negligence, that results in injury......

ps: we are way off the OP topic.

Should there be a safety shutoff on my recently purchased 2002 BX2200? I can climb off the tractor and the engine and 60" MMM continue to run normally. I thought that was odd the first time I used the tractor. I have looked under the seat and haven't located any type of switch.

Our M9540 continues to run when you leave the seat. If you have the PTO going, an alarm sounds but the PTO stays on.
