This is where it is going ,Don't let conservation comission in on the secret !!!!!!!!!! can't do anything within 100' of water but the town has no problem taxing me double for waterfront property ???
Hey bird i'm not doing it because i want to do it but i must make way for new ceptic system and the law states that i can't put it in back yard. If i hire someone to remove dirt and build retainig walls then put system in it would cost me more than the tractor much more so do you see my point in doing this my self. I would much rather be playing with this new machine ! Going to be a bad summer !!!!!!!!!!!
How do you know you're going to get a perk after you remove all that soil and dirt. You may be down to rock very quickly on a hill like that, especially near a lake. Or are you doing a sand mound once the area is leveled? It would be a really horrible thing if you went to all that time and trouble and found out you coudn't put your septic system in that area.
One other thought...what are you going to do to insure that that 8' bank doesn't collapse on you while you're excavating towards the end of the job? Me...I'd hire a pro for this job not only to reduce the work, but for the safety factor. Big machines can do it quickly and those folks know how to deal with the bank. IMHO, of course!
Well, if you're going to be busy with that project all summer, I'll be glad to come get the rig in the picture and take care of it for you all summer./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
First of all i live on cape cod and most of the land on cape cod is glacial deposit sand ,gravel , clay there are some areas mostly coastal morains ( hilly areas ) that have boulder deposits but there is no bedrock to speak of the area that i live in is flat land with sink hole ponds 50 feet deep nothing but gravel and sand . As far as keeping everything in place go SLOW !!! and terace the retaing wall in 2 foot hights 2foot widths i just recently put a 20'x20' addition on to the house and excavated a similar depth hole with minimal cave in. Go Slow no need to rush!!!!!!!!
Notice the little red front end loader in the last picture that thing practicaly backfilled the whole foundation so i think the new little orange tractor will be up to the task!!!!!!!!!! Hey bird if you make it up to cape cod you can go fishing in that white rig !! lots of bluefish , striper bass , fluke somebody will have to get me off of the orange!!!!!
Nice pictures, Mike, and when we built my brother's house, I backfilled the whole foundation with a B7100HSD with a B1630C FEL, and a 4' Monroe Tufline box blade. Just takes time on a small tractor, but for his house, couldn't get a big tractor in between the trees.
