Re: B7500 won\'t start!

Rich,
Same story at my house yesterday. Although it was my nephew and my nieces husband who were in the drivers seat. One from Washington DC and the other from Bellevue, WA. The tractor & backhoe dominated the conversation for the rest of the evening. I think they were expecting to see a little riding mower when they heard about my tractor. I know they left with a new respect for "Country" living.

Re: B7500 won\'t start!

Rich, sure wish I'd have looked at the obvious a few years ago when my Ford 1210 wouldn't move. I had been using it all morning, then parked it to have lunch. When I came back out, it started, but it wouldn't move forward or backward. It has a HST, but also has a clutch. This is just te same way it behaved a couple years prior when the clutch face went away.

I immediately sprung into action. Struggled to push it into the garage, and dove right into disassembly. I have a hook on one beam for lifting things, so after removing the hood, fuel tank, battery and other sundry parts, I hooked a chain and comealong to the front part of the tractor to keep it balanced on the front wheels. There's a couple unused tapped holes on the side of the tranny that I bolted a piece of unistrut to, so when the tractor was split, it would be like a two-wheeled wheelbarrow supported by the strut.

Then came all the electrical and hydro connections and the bell housing. Finally, everything was separated, and I moved the back half of the tractor away to have a look at the bad clutch disc. Amazingly, it was 100% AOK. At this point, I was really frustrated. I gave up and went for a shower.

While soaping up, I thought it over. There was one teensy detail that came to mind. I dried off and went to the garage for a look. Sure enough, the H-N-L selector for the HST was in "N". Big OOPS. Put it back together, clicked it into gear, and all was well.

I told a bud about this shortly after it happened, and he said he believes the more we know about something, the easier it is to assume the problem is more serious than it really is. He then went on to tell me that he had recently gone through a lot of trouble to drop a fuel tank on his minivan to replace the fuel sending unit. When he got everything back together, the fuel gage still didn't work. It was then that he discovered the fuse was blown.................chim

Re: B7500 won\'t start!

I trailered my BX2200 to the farm one day to play, oops, I really mean work. Everything was working fine at the time when I shut it off to visit with some company that showed up. When I was alone again I hopped on and hit the key. Nothing happened. Then I noticed that none of the dash lights were on. Blown fuse or dead battery, right? Checked fuses, they were all OK. I get my truck and connect the jumper cables. Turn the key on and still no lights. Dang, it's Sunday and the dealer gets that a day off. I have his home number but I really don't want to bother him on Sunday. I'm sure he would come out if I call him but I like my days off too. So here I am in the middle of the country with my new tractor and there is no way I can put it on the trailer unless the darn thing will run. I lowered the loader and box blade to the ground when I shut it off, as we all should do. I just know that if I leave it setting out here alone for five minutes it will be gone when I get back. So I scratch my head and crawl under the dash. I find a couple white connectors with many wires coming out of both ends. I push on both ends of each connector and the lights come on. Wow, what a relief. Later, back at home, I pull the connectors apart and add some dielectric grease. Haven't had anymore starting problems since. I found out that only one of the connectors actually caused the problem but I greased both anyway. Using dielectric grease on electrical connectors helps prevent corrosion and increases reliability. I also use it on all my trailer connectors. It really does help.

Re: B7500 won\'t start!

RichC,
Here's another tip you should remember about the B7500...
After moving logs around all day using my FEL with welded hooks I could not lower my bucket. Only in the "float" position would it drop. Fortunately for me a quick call to my dealer diagnosed the problem instantly. I accidentally moved the 3-point hitch control lever to "up" position messing up a valve. That lever MUST be in the "N" position. For a minute there I thought my baby was broke. What an awful feeling.

Thank goodness for these old threads. Couldn稚 get my B7500 to turn over and low and behold I must致e bumped the pto lever and triggered the safety feature. I feel so dumb. Haha
