What is a good operating RPM for the B7500? I just got my machine so I'm on a huge learning curve here. I notice if the RPM's are too low it stalls under load. Too high and everything moves too fast for me. What would you suggest?

Hi Terry. Congrats on the new machine. You're just down the road from me - across the boarder from Malone.

The answer is: whatever it takes to get the job done. If your tractor is brand new, you should vary the RPM's to allow the engine to break in "evenly." Don't lug the engine either (the sound it makes before stalling).

Is it an HST? If so, it doesn't matter what RPM you set it to - you control how fast everything moves with your foot/joystick.

Terry,

I would run at 1500 for general loader work, and around 2000 for other more strenous work loading, mowing I believe requires around 2200 for the 540 RPM at the PTO but as mentioned above if new vary the rpm's from time to time.

Depends on what you're doing.

When I mow (MMM), I keep it at 2,500 in order to get a good cut.

When I'm digging into a dirt pile wth the FEL, I'll bump it up if needed, then back off a bit when I'm done with the digging part.

If you have the HST (I do), it's very easy to lug it when your in high gear. There's a dramatic difference between low and high. Sometimes when digging with the FEL, I'll travel to where I need to go in high gear. If I forget to stick it in low when I start digging, it's almost like I have no digging power at all.

Regarding everything moving too fast if the RPM's are high, that's part of the learing curve. I've learned to use a really light touch on the FEL joystick and 3 pt controls.

Have fun!

depends on what u are doing at the time. for general loader work i run about 1700 but if i get into harder stuff i kick it up a bit, really u have to just lister to your machine.
