There should be no difference except in the ability of the tractor to pick them up and not loose steering stability.

It was clearly listed under rear mount. I'll have to look again for what it listed for mid mount. I just assumed that mid mount would be much more expensive and cost is a deciding factor for me, so I didn't read the mid mount specs. I guess the mid mount would be a lot nicer for regular mowing.

Wen, you could very well be right; I was just going by the fact that it's quite easy to turn the PTO shaft by hand on my brush hog, but quite difficult to turn the one on the finish mower. On the brush hog, you're turning the gears in the gear box and the output shaft (spindle) is directly connected to the blades, while the finish mower is pulling a belt going to 3 spindles to which the blades are attached. Just seems to take more power to turn the finish mower, but maybe not.

Keith - I have recently researched the rear mount rotary mower question for my B1700, and I have found from reading the owners manuals, talking to salesmen, and talking to real people who own real tractors in my neighborhood that i absolutely must stay with a 4 footer for my tractor. A friends TC18 uses a 60 inch midmount, but can only swing a 4 foot rear mount. This is more due to weight distribution than horsepower. Although your 7500 has a few more ponies than mine, it is physically the same size, so I would think the same would apply to your situation. Best to sell the 5 footer, get a 4 footer instead. I am getting mine on Wednesday, and am going to run the hell out of it this weekend!

My tractor lists a 7 ft rotary mower at 1200# ( My 6 ft weighs 990#) and a 10 ft Flail Moweer at 1760#. It does not list a finish mower as such and there are no provisions for a belly mower (which seems to be a little wider on some models.

Kieth, inthe three months I've had my 7500 I have used it for mowing, clearing, pushing, and shaping. It does the job nicely. My father even managed to use it to push over a fairly large tree. I wasn't there when he did it, so the particulars aren't something I know well. I have 3 acres myself and in soem ways I wish it was a larger tractor. You might be better off with a 30 HP tractor, but then again, maybe not. If the 7500 will do the job, and it will, then why pay more. The attachement os of my father working with it at his home.

You are in my exact situation! I want something I can put in the garage,and still pull a box scraper. I too have looked at the JD790, I was just not impressed. Let me know what you decide.
