Opinions please!

I have Just traded a JD4700 with FEL and JD48 Backhoe for an M6800 with FEL. I needed a Bigger tractor. The dealer has given me an opportunity(as a multiple purchase) to trade my JD2210 with FEL and 54MMM for a B-7500 FEL and 54MMM. I need the smaller deck due to the very uneven terrain I mow.

My Question is do you folks have any opinions about the B7500VsB7800. I woulds love to run my 5' rotary cutter on the little tractor if that is possble. Also my 5' tiller.

BTW the Deere's were great Machines but I had no success convincing my dealers that I was worthy of their time.

Thank You

I can't help you with the tiller question...
My tractor is a Deere 670 (19 HP Gross, 16.5 @ the PTO) which weighs abouts 2200 lbs. with the FEL installed. I believe that's a bit heavier then the B7500, however, the HP outputs are pretty close.
When I bought my 60" Land Pride cutter, I was looking for a 48" unit. The dealer (a Kubota store) said they have sold the 5" units to use with the B7500.

Powerwise, the 670/cutter combination works very well...better then I expected, considering the 670 is 4 HP (@ the PTO) less then Land Pride reccomends for a 5' cutter.

The cutter weights in at just over 600 lbs. The max lifting capacity of the 670 is around 820 lbs.. So far, no problems, but I need the FEL installed when I'm using the cutter. I think I'd get a lot of front end bobbing without the FEL there (I don't have any suitcase weights).

So...I think the B7500 would handle your 5' cutter, powerwise. Not sure about the weight issue though.

To reduce the stress on my 670, I normally transport the cutter by lifting it high enough to get the clearance on the front end, but I leave it low enough to let the tail wheel carry some of the weight. I do this by lengthening the top link. Even if I transport at full lift (cutter completely off the ground), I've had no issues, but I don't do that too much.

Use of the 5' cutter means I go pretty slow...normally 1st or 2nd gear Low Range. I go slow due to the slopes and rutting on the area I'm cutting too, so it's not just due to the weight.

Little doubt the B7500 can handle the 5' cutter if you don't mind cutting at a slower speed. As far as the weight...don't know... I think it will, but it would be borderline, assuming you have a FEL.

Go with the B7800. Take a look at them side by side and note ground clearence. Do the horsepower thing.

This discussion board is filled with I need a bigger tractor, not too many "I want a smaller tractor".

I do have a B7800, my wife put me on it. I was settled on the B7500 as my choice. Then I did a lot of reading on this board.

I am with Mike Z. on this one. Go with the 7800. It will operate your implements without any problem. The only issue I see is that you had a 54" MMM because I'm not sure if that will cover your tires and may be difficult mowing around items (I'm not even sure if they offer the 54" with 7800). I went with the 60" MMM because of the uneven terrain in my yard.

The 5' field mower is a much better fit on the B7800 than the B7500. If you are going to run the mid mount mower, remember that the mid PTO is optional on the B7800.
