Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

Hey Donny,

I got the regular Turfs. I want the wider tire and the easiest tread I can get. R-4's are terrific if you can get away with them. But my lawn has alot of tender turf that would cut pretty easily with the industrials, and one of my main concerns was soil compaction.

I run Ice chains in winter so traction is no problem there, in summer I'll be giving up traction but I was mowing with a White 2055 which was 2wd, so I'm ahead no matter what.

On the JD 2210 which I traded for the B7500 I had smallish turfs and it did a wonderful Job on the lawn.

BUt if I was getting this tractor to do alot of loading or any field work I'd get the R-4's in a second. As it is though it will be used mainlty to mow my lawn 2 acres, cut a field once a year, 5 acres, and do some light tilling in soft raised beds, 2 acres, and move small quantities of firewood into the shed. Plus my wife will tow her garden cart.

You know I'm not against having 2 sets of tires. Change to R-4's when the lawn is done. I mean that is June -Sept here. Maybe I'll get a set.

I had a JD 955 with R-4's and they were great. My JD4700 Hydro came with R-4's and I love them. I had ags on the one I traded, for woods work. I got ags on the M6800 with cast wheels.

LATEBLOOMER: GREAT PIC!

It looks like our place last week about 12 inches.

As I have done in the past I used my tractor to help the
young-uns build a BIG snowman. Much easier then sending
myself to the spinal clinic lifting those midsections up!

When it started warming I was tempted take my bigger Kubota
down the road, turning around and seeing how BIG of a ball
I could roll up. Something so I'd "have" snow for another
month.

Decided not to, already suspect some of the locals think I'm
not quite right as it is now. Didn't want to add to their
fear!

Never too late to have a happy childhood, and an 8 foot snowball
sounds like fun!

Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

JD2K,
I see one of your uses for the B7500 is going to be firewood. I have attached a picture of mine moving a pallet of firewood. I put away 16 boards last year. I have a small covered storage area at the house that I can just drop a board as needed. The rest are in a shelter out in the woods. I used to do this all by hand. Now I only handle it once to put it on the board and once to bring it into the house. The B7500 can just barely lift this board of wood, but it can do it. I really didn't think this little machine was going to be able to do a lot of the things I have been able to accomplish. Thought I'd share.

Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

Greg Thanks a lot. That was a very cool picture. I see you geniuses are always coming up with great ideas.

I was going to just keep filling the bucket and bringing in wheel barrow sized loads. That is a terrific idea. I even have a few pallets around from fertilizer deliveries.

I also have a set of forks. The loader probably can pick that up enough to move it around, but if not I can use a rear set like you did.

The best thing about the B's is they go in all sorts of tiny places that the L's and M's can't.

I love that 2210 but I know I'm getting a great tractor and I am sure you guys will keep me in new ideas.

Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

AJP,
You know, just when I start thinking I would like a bigger tractor, I realize how nice it is to have the smaller footprint to move stuff around. The place where I drop that pallet is very close quarters. I have to move my boat and then jockey the tractor aound in some very tight quarters to be able to back it into a little cutaway in the house. I think I could do it with a B7800, but an L3130 would be very difficult. So I resolve it with the fact that it can lift that board and I can get it into that tight space.... so what more could I want. The B7500 is a big bang for the buck machine in my opinion.

Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

JD2K, this just in. This morning I noticed one of my neighbors couldn't get into our out of his drive because of some wierd snow conditions we have had here. We had a bad windstorm last week that caused a lot of drifts and in areas compacted snow(can't explain that one). He tried to snow blow but this stuff is like concrete. I went over this afternoon and in about an hour had his drive cleared out for about 100 ft. It was 4 ft deep in places and had to be chopped up before I could lift it out. I turned the bucket straight down and pushed down hard and curled. Big blocks of snow broke loose this way so I could lift them out. I didn't get a picture but will try to post one Monday. These little tractors keep surprising me. Oh and the irony is that this guy works at a Yukon heavy equipment and couldn't get the company truck up his drive.

Re: 2 speed PTO on B7500

Latebloomer,

Isn't is just amazing what they'll do. I was always impressed by my first compact. They keep giving them more guts.

My 4700 Gst was great but the loader attaching bracket was miserable. Anyone buying a small tractor for alot of hard loader work should definately check out the loader set up on the Kubotas. Imho they are way ahead.

As for your snow removal, get that picture posted. I love seeing other people hard at work.
Be safe and stay warm, thanks for the insights.
