Need to change the hyrdaulic fluid on my B7500HSD for the
first time - 66 hours.

I can't tell very well from the manual exactly where the drain
plugs are. It appears that there are two - one right on the
side of the mid-PTO and one to the bottom left of the
filter. There are a few bolts next to the filter though; I'm
not sure which is the drain plug.

Can anyone confirm that:

(a) there are only these two drain plugs

(b) which bolt next to the filter is the correct one (I assume if
I unscrew the wrong one, which I would know if no fluid
came out, that I wouldn't harm anything).

The manual indicates about 3.3 gallons of Hydro fluid; is that
about how much will drain out? I would assume that it would be less because not all of it would drain out.

Thanks

I just did the 50 hr. service on one yesterday. I drained the trans. in 4 spots. The one next to the mid PTO, one on each side of the rear axle housings, and one on the clutch housing even though very little fluid comes out after draining the other places. 3.3 gallons isn't very far off it might be 3 gals. The drain plugs will have a slightly different head on them compared to the housing bolts.

Thanks for the response.

Does (will) most of the fluid come out through the PTO drain plug? Just wondering in case I
can't locate the other three that you mention.

I don't know why Kubota can't mark these a little better.

Yes, most of the oil will come out at the mid PTO but you do want to try to get the ones on the rear axle housings. There is enough oil there to make it important, especially on the first oil change. I hope you know about removing the suction screen and cleaning it also. It is on the right hand side of the transmission case in front of the rear axle housing. I like to put some red paint on the drain plugs when I have them out so there are no problems the next time.

Thanks again...good idea re: red paint.

Brian,

I just changed the oil in my B7500 a month ago and knew nothing of the suction screen. Where is it and should I clean it or can I wait for the next scheduled oil change?

Thanks,

I did the hydro oil change over the weekend on my B7500HST.

Two questions came up:

(1) The strainer - in the manual, the picture shows this to be
to the left of the filter. However, on the actual tractor, I
could not find anything looking like that on the left. There
was a tube on the right side - I took that off, but there
was no strainer (or anything else) apparently inside (ie:
there was nothing else for me to remove).
Can anyone tell me exactly where the strainer is?

(2) I had to remove my rear wheel to get the hydro filter
off. I used as a jacking point my FEL frame (the flat
part that the FEL hooks into right in front of the clutch) -
this worked great as it was the right size and seemed to
hold the tractor up securely.

I was wondering though what others use as the jacking
point if they do not have the FEL frame? I initially was
going to use the rear trailer hitch, but I could tell that
was going to be very unstable. The jack would not have
reached anywhere else (I use a hi-lift jack).

Fluid that came out was pretty clean; took exactly 3
gallons of new fluid - $19.38 per gallon Super UDT.

Thanks.

You can probably wait till the next oil change to clean the screen. It is located on the right side of the tractor in front of the rear axle housing. It looks like a big bolt going through the hydraulic line. It has a 26 mm head on it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Brian....I'll take a look for it this weekend. Sure wish the Kubota manuals were a little more
detailed, would make it easier for non-mechanical novices such as myself.

Are there service manuals available? Sort a Kubota's for Dummies.
