B7300 cranks hard when hot.

I have a B7300 that runs great and starts ok when cold or cool. After a hard workout, (snow blowing or cutting grass), if I shut it off it will crank over as though the battery is dead, but it's not. In the cold weather after sitting for 30 minutes it fires up instantly. Maybe a little longer in warmer weather. I've done battery load tests and starter draw tests. Everything seems ok. Is it possible that a injector is leaking causing a hydro lock situation? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks, Tim

It may sound odd, but check both ends of your positive and negative battery connections. Take them completely off at both ends, and clean them up real good. Also, clean up both posts on the battery.

Some machines which have worked in a corrosive environment i.e. seaside, where road salt is used, have corrosion between the starter and the engine block. The starter relies on a good connection to the engine block for its electroical ground.

If cables and battery check good, it could be a heat soaked starter. Is there a heat shield that's missing that could cause the starter to be exposed to more heat than normal? If the starter gets too hot or is going bad, the higher temp can raise the internal resistance of the windings and it will crank slow.

The only other idea I have is a change in compression when it gets hot. Does this engine have either a manual or automatic compression release that is used when starting? If so, I can imagine for some reason it's not working when the engine is hot so the engine is harder to crank.
