B7200D - Super UDT...

Like I posted a few weeks ago, I picked up an older B7200 w/1630 FEL. Tractor is solid, but I am in the process of doing a major tuneup. I went to my local Kubota dealer and bought all new fluids and filters, but I was told because mine is a non HST tractor that I would not need the Super UDT. The parts guy told me the geared D model 7200 just needs a regular UDT. I searched around the net before posting, but I could not find anything. I have no problem spending money for the good stuff, but if Super UDT is going affect my tractor and because it is non HST, I'll go and swap out my 4 gallons of SUDT for regular UDT.

What does the manual specify?? Put in it what the manual calls for. If you don't mind spending the money for "the good stuff" and that is what it calls for, go for it. Most people are looking to go the cheap route!!

From what I understand, Super UDT is better in cold weather.

SUDT is a suitable UDT replacement from my understanding of reading through all these threads.

I have a "UDT substitute" in my B7100, forget what it's called but it has Kubota application listed on the side of the pail and others have mentioned it. My HST is whiny. I had a leak last summer and didn't want to pay for SUDT all over the ground. I replaced a hose and now it doesn't leak so I'll change back to SUDT soon.

The older gear drive tractors will run fine on the standard UDT. You can use the Super UDT but may notice more gear noise since it is a thinner oil. In the HST models the Super would definately make a differnce in performance and operation. I would stay away from cheap after market oils, they may say compatiable or something similiar on the label but who has tested the oil. I have used only super udt in mine and have had great sucess.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm not sure the exact year of my machine, but I am leaning towards mid 80's and my manual does not even mention SUDT. I think I may go bring my jugs of SUDT back and swap them out with UDT at my Kubota dealer.

When I bought my BX24, I bought oil and hydraulic fluid for the first change. The dealer sold me udt. I didn't think about it until I read the manual and it called out for super udt. Called the dealer and he said the udt is fine. I've got almost 400 hours on the machine and have had no problems except the dealer replaced the cooling fan for the hst under warrenty even though the warrenty had expired. There was a bolt missing. Only one bolt holding on the fan. I discovered it when I fabricated a skid plate to protect said fan.

I think they are a fine dealership. Golden eagle in Irwin pa.
