On top of the old thread I have (no idiot lights)... I replaced the starter solenoid as it needed it, what a pain that is with the hook for the internal starter arm. Anyway, I hooked it up, now when I turn the key to the start position it turns over, but then when the key returns to the run position it Continues to spin the starter, enough so that it drained the battery and got REALLY hot (positive terminal).
Tested the solenoids by the manual (plunger tests) and that is fine. Put the old one back on and same issue.
Sound like a bad key switch? This is frustrating

Update: pulled the key switch, cleaned all terminals, checked with multi meter the key positions according to the manual, seemed ok. Reinstalled, and cleaned Amy other connections behind the dash. Seemed to work well on the first start up, fuel gauge started working again. Still no idiot lights or headlights/rear lights. Turned it off, went to restart and went back to its old ways... starter spinning even with key off, fuel gauge not working :(

Put the meter on the headlight leads, had a negative value. I am not an electrician, Amy idea on this one? Still cannot locate any other fuses

Put the meter on the starter solenoid terminal that energizes it when the key is turned. If the voltage stays when the key is released, that is causing the starter to keep running.

Is the new solenoid exactly the same as the original?

I put the tester on the blade connector which activates the plunger and with the key off sometimes I was getting a slight charge. Not sure if it was enough to hold the plunger in, but it was something. New key switch should be here thursday.
The solenoid is a direct replacement. The hook on the plunger that grabs the starter arm got me though. When the old one was taken out (with the starter still on the motor) the hook was up, so I installed the new one like that. I'm assuming when the plunger goes it grabs that arm. Do I need to manually hook up the hook to the arm?

I haven't seen a solenoid with a hook and do not have any Kubota experience.

Was hoping someone that did would see this thread.

I did an image search, is this the solenoid?

It engages 90 percent of the time, a few times the starter spins but doesn't engage, I'm thinking it might be low voltage not pulling the plunger at that point

Changed out the key switch, definitely more responsive to start, but starter continues to crank when not in start position. And occasionally starter motor will spin and not engage.
I'm assuming something is not quite hooked up right, does it with the new solenoid and the old.
Can start and use, just have to disconnect the positive power from the solenoid terminal as soon as it starts. Might have to install a relay to this to cut power automatically
