Kubota B7100
Hello,
I have a circa 1983 B7100 in (bought recently in NZ) which has no front wheel drive. I investigated and found the UJ missing and the output shaft chewed up. I have split the tractor and have attached a photo of the transmission output, two things:
Where can I get parts from (preferably in NZ)?
How difficult a job is it to remove and replace the FWD output shaft?
I guess It would be too much to hope that a replacement UJ could be fitted to a cleaned up output shaft, looks like the shaft has broken where the hole for the security pin would have been.
Thanks, any help much appreciated

Hello, welcome to TBN.

The shaft is definitely broken and missing a section with a cross hole drilled into it. That was quite a failure and I wonder if the U joint was flopping around till it caught something and pretty much snapped the shaft. Typically on these tractors, the splines on the U joint will get stripped if the tractor was ran in 4WD pretty much all the time, specially on hard surfaces.

As far as replacing, it will require to take the transmission apart to pull the shaft out. On a more positive the note, it's a fairly simple transmission to work on and should be very straight forward.

You can check Messicks site and maybe work out shipping with them. If anything else, it works as parts catalog. I did find another source for the shaft: Trakter.com - GEARBOX SHAFT 4X4 ORIGINAL KUBOTA

Thank you very much for helping me out, I will use your contact for parts if they will ship to NZ. I have not worked on transmission before so will try it slowly. The tractor was used in an orchard for mowing, it looks as though the damage was caused a while ago given the corrosion and aging colour of the output shaft
Cheers

No worries. Let us know if you need any help. There are plenty of experienced people here than can give some inside and these are fairly simple tractors to work on.

I owned a B7000 for over 18 years and pretty much knew the thing front to back, although I've never actually needed to work on the gearbox or rear end.
